Having my own dedicated office is definitely one of the biggest perks of this new house. The room I decided to turn into my office is in the basement and it has ample room for just about anything I could hope to do.

I decided that once we moved in I would just paint the room a blue color I liked and update it fully later.

Why not update it fully to begin with?

Well:

• There's wood paneling on one wall and weird ceiling tiles that I'm not quite sure what to do with yet

• There's so many other projects happening in the house that fully tearing into the office doesn't make the most sense

• Until I'm settled in a bit, I don't know quite how I want to decorate it

• I need to use the space as best I can for a bit

Here's a photo of the "before" aka basically what it was when we moved in

So for this first iteration of my home office, I basically have all the furniture in the office space that I want. I've added a couple bookcases (ideally, I'd have built-ins later, but for now these will work) I keep my filing cabinet in the closet, which is actually super nice because it doubles as a table in there. It also allows for more free space in the office space itself.

I also painted the space blue to make the wood paneling look intentional.

And here's a few photos of the "after" or I guess it'd be the intermediate stage before I go BIG :)

Most of the furniture has been accumulated over time (generally from Amazon) but I did buy the bookcases and the mini-couch/ottoman specifically for this office.

I think this version of the office worked great for the first few months of living in the house. BUT I'm very excited to dig in deep now that I know exactly what I want it to be like, it's just taking time.

Here's the link the part two, which is all about the process

And once part three is done, I'll link it here.
