A Vegetable Garden

I don't have much of a green thumb, but after growing tomatoes and strawberries last year, I wanted to try more edible plants this year.
So, I bought TWO tomato plants, more strawberries, seeds for carrots, cucumber, and zucchini, as well as a couple of squash plants.
Isn't that risky when you don't have a green thumb?
Yes. Yes it is, but I'm willing to try.
To start, I got a raised garden bed off of Amazon. I just picked a metal one that seemed to be a good price/size.
After assembling that, I put it in the backyard in a few spots to pick one I liked. My husband and I ended up agreeing on the far corner area that used to be a sandbox for previous owners.
Then, after watching a couple videos on how to set up a garden, I followed one step by step.
Step 1: Fill the bottom with cardboard

Step 2: Add some filler, like tree branches, etc. I didn't have a lot of filler to use for this step.

Step 3: Add Compost. I used Mushroom compost for mine. Then add soil.

Step 4: Add the plants. I may have planted a bit too much for the size of the garden bed, but I'll see how this year goes and maybe add some more space next year.

Within a week or two of it being planted, my dog was already munching on the leaves of the squash plants. I may have to figure out a gate situation for it, but this is all a new experiment this year.
Overall, a very satisfying thing to do, hopefully the plants produce some vegetables!
