The Petrified Forest National Park is located in Arizona.
This park was not at all what I expected. I think because it's called "Forest" I was ignorantly expecting lots of upright trees in a traditional forest setting.
That's not what this was. Not even close.
Photos and words can't do this one justice. This park had a lot of landscape that reminded me of other parks, but ...different. The petrified trees themselves were like nothing I'd ever seen. I kept reaching out to touch them to feel the different rock textures inside of it.
In the trees that were still somewhat unified, it was so strange to see how they'd naturally sliced themselves into sections.
Petrified trees are wild to see.
Also, the weather at the time (early November 2020) was slightly overcast and slightly chilly, but it made the sky and the lighting throughout the park almost like a pastel dreamland.
