Ice Castles

In early January of 2020, we went to see the "ice castles" in Colorado.
I'll admit, it was a bit of a let down, mainly because I was expecting an actual castle made of ice (hello Elsa...) but that's because I was extremely unaware of what it actually was and took the words to literally mean ice castle.
What it actually ended up being, was more of giant walls made of ice in which you wandered around a slushy ground to look at while navigating many selfie-takers, and wandering children.

It was still beautiful and impressive in its own way, and had we known that would have been one of the last "normal" and only outings for 2020, I think we would have appreciated it a lot more than we did.
