Whew! I’ve taken the last few months to grieve, away from screens (as much as possible) and do some work on my health. (which is still a very much in-progress goal)

I’ve walked so many miles in the last few months and I’m finally starting to run again.

If you’re new here, I started running in 2020 and I ran my first 10K in January of 2022. After my 10K, I got COVD and… well the year got rough from there.

Anyway… I know I can do anything once, but getting back into something, especially after a long break is hard.

But after this last year, I know I can do hard things.

Week 1:

I started on the track, and was in better shape than I anticipated. Still more out of breath than I’d like, but it was manageable.

Week 2:

I decided to do my interval running on the first part of my walking loop. It made the route go faster and I was surprised at how good it felt to be running (part of) my route again.

Week 3:

This week was a mix of the track and the route I have in my neighborhood. The intervals are getting longer, but I’m able to keep up.

Next week is a vacation week, and then back to running. My goal is to run a half marathon next. I don’t have a set date for it yet, and I’m just going to follow the couch to 10K app first and then graduate to the 21K app and figure out a race closer to getting through the training. It might take a few years, but I’m okay with that.

For now, it feels good to be back on track, literally.
