Woobles: Learning to Crochet

I wanted to learn how to do yarn crafts, but knitting seemed a bit daunting to start with.

After a while I found the Woobles kits- and they had a Dumbledore kit that looked really cute...

The price was definitely more expensive than felt comfortable for a whim hobby test. So, I challenged myself to walking 10,000 steps every day for a month before rewarding myself with the kit. (spoiler alert: I definitely crushed that step goal) This kit included all the yarn, hook, fluff, eyes, and instructions you'd need. Thankfully, there were videos to follow along to. When I say I struggled to learn this, know I struuuuuuggled. I watched the first few videos over and over and over and over and over to try and understand the mechanics of crocheting. I got very frustrated (this was more a reflection of internal perfectionism than anything to do with the kit itself) and when it tried to teach me how to change colors? NOPE.

So, I put Dumbledore to rest (just for a bit) and got a true beginner kit to learn from. This one is called "Pierre the Penguin" and it saved my interest in these adorable little things because I could actually understand the flow of it when I wasn't concerned with color changing. Here's how that little guy turned out for me:

Cute, right? So, after him, I went back to Dumbledore, and I FINISHED HIM!

After that, I fell hard for the cute trap that is The Woobles and ended up doing about 20 in a year... (I apparently didn't take photos of all of them, but here are some I did take photos of)

It took time to get used to the different types of stitches, and I will watch the special stitch tutorials on repeat until I get it right, but I'm pretty pleased with this learning journey. It's dangerously addictive, but make great gifts! (at least I hope :) )
