Getting Back on Track

Where the heck did August 2020 go? Although “March of 2020” seems to be a never-ending month that’s lingering for everyone... The actual month of August has flown by for me.

Between countless house projects and trying to get my ducks in a row with potential work opportunities, August disappeared quickly. Who knew that uprooting your home could be so time consuming? (Literally, everyone :) )

I haven’t been routine in any aspect of life for the last 3+ months because of the move, but that’s okay. Sometimes, that’s just how life goes. I’m not complaining by any means, I’m very happy with all the (although, scary and stressful at times) big changes that have happened recently.

(Plus, let's be real, if I managed to be consistent with workouts and creative outlets during a move, and losing my steady-income-corporate-job, while maintaining sanity, I don't think that's human- kudos to you if you're able to do and be all the things... that's just not me)

I’ve been thinking more and more over the last week and a half of what I’d like to do better each day, week, month, and so on. The largest theme that I keep coming back to is “routine” With a larger house and a solo business (more on that later) I need to get more regulated on when I do things, to make the most of my time. This includes: working out, making sure I’m eating meals, general home maintenance, time set aside for family and friends, self-care, and so on...

There’s a phrase I’ve grown annoyingly familiar with and it’s “analysis paralysis” It means to be so overwhelmed with what you have to do, that you shut down and tend to not do anything. Sound familiar? There’s a lot to it when you sit down and think about all the things you want to accomplish in a day, and while I’m guilty of shutting down from time to time, I find that I feel best when I write it all down to first get it out of my head, then tackle it one at a time. Google calendar has been a lifesaver as well, between blocking work times out and adding helpful reminders, it’s helped organize my thoughts and tasks.

Getting into my ideal routine will take time, discipline, and... likely a lot of restarts. Regardless, I'm still feeling optimistic about what the future holds.

While I won't get into the nitty gritty of everything that I'm working toward, I will aim to be more consistent here in publishing posts as well. My aim is a fresh post each Wednesday from now on.

So here’s to September, may it be a productive month, and the start of a strong and healthy routine. PLUS it's my favorite season of the bunch, pumpkin season :)
