Into week 3!
I was definitely starting to feel a slump this week, and I'm not quite sure why. Maybe the shiny new-ness is wearing off. Maybe it's because I'm not quite feeling in shape enough for it to go as well as I'd like. Whatever the case, week 3 took more determination to get through.
Sunday
Day 1 Week 3- 26 min total, 8 running = 1.98 mi
Another start to the week with my Bestie. On this workout, I was feeling stronger than the previous weeks, but still frustrated that it's not more natural to me yet. (I struggle with patience...) But, after stretching out my calves a bit, I was able to finish this workout, tired, but happy.
Monday
No activity- rest day
Tuesday
1 mile dog walk around the neighborhood- hit a lot of hills to try and wear Dobby out within a short amount of time.
Wednesday
Day 2 Week 3- 26 minutes total, with 8 of that being running 2.02 miles
This morning was ROUGH to get up and go. The morning started with my cat (Bruce) being loud and extremely active well before 5am (alarm was set to go at 5:20) So I laid there for awhile debating going at all or trying to get more sleep. I kept weighing options and thinking about just running on Thursday, but ultimately, I tough talked myself into going because I really want to achieve this goal, and it really is mind over matter at this point.
Thursday
3 mile dog walk- experienced more shin splints/foot pain during this walk. Our neighborhood has a lot of hills, but this was pretty severe for just a walk.
Friday
Day 3 Week 3- 30 min total, 10 were ran, 2.26 miles
Bruce, yet again, decided to wake up at 4:15ish and start meowing to be fed/get attention. I tried to shut him out, but someone else left the door open...
The run wasn't bad, more pain, but I pushed through and finished the workout anyway. Slightly later in the morning than I'd like, but I wasn't about to push it off since it closes out week 3 of training.
Saturday
No activity- lots of housework
Week 3 Down!
I'm feeling better about the distance I can cover, most of the breaks I've been taking have been more pain related than out of breath.
Biggest Lesson this week:
Bruce should not be able to get into our room on the nights before a run. He has no regard for humans sleeping. Also, I've got to do something about the pain I've been experiencing from the knees down...
